Is it OK to Eat Cheese Before Bed? It’s OK if it’s OKA!
We’ve all experienced this: it’s barely been a few hours since supper, yet still, you feel hungry. What should you do? Even though moms always say eating before bed brings on nightmares, a snack would be so good… And you know you’ll go for a nibble no matter what. Luckily, there’s a way of being healthy without being deprived of OKA cheese or sleep. First step: try to eat at least 45 minutes before going to bed in order to give your digestive system a fighting chance.
Eat Lightly to Avoid Upsetting Your Stomach
OKA cheese helps us sleep better. We know it sounds far-fetched, but it’s true! Cheese contains tryptophan, an amino acid participating in serotonin and therefore in melatonin. Still with us? Basically, it promotes good sleep, when consumed in moderation. If you feel hungry late in the evening, consider eating:
An apple with slices of OKA Light cheese
It’s good, it’s easy, and it will fill you up quickly! You can also change this winning combination for a slice of whole-grain bread, or even a few crackers to go with your OKA Light cheese.
Decadent Version
If you’re more into breaking the rules and want to eat a more decadent snack, we’ve got you covered. We’ve always liked rebels. If it’s important for you to have a balanced diet, it’s also important not to deprive yourself and to listen to our cravings from time to time!
Cheese Platter
To you, foodie who refuses to eat fruits as an evening snack, we tell you: OKA Classique cheese is the cheese for you. Creamy with a fruity aroma, this cheese is specially designed for connoisseurs, thanks to its extended ripening of 110 days, which gives its rind an aged appearance and texture. A masterpiece on your cheese platter, it will go perfectly with dried fruits, jams and good bread.
Stuffed Bread
We’re talking about a whole other level of tasty here. But hey, some nights, we’re just feeling it!
You’ll need a loaf of bread, sliced in a checkered pattern on top (without cutting the bottom). Add slices of OKA cheese into the slits and brush the top of the bread with melted butter. Wrap everything in aluminum foil and place in the oven for 10 minutes, and then for another 15 minutes without the foil. A real treat for the insurgents!
No matter what your snack game looks like, sometimes you just have to listen to your cravings and share delicious moments with a loved one. It may be a family member, or it may be yourself. We’re not judging!
